Diptych Abstracts

Creating abstract diptychs with egg tempera and Sumi-e ink is my way of stepping into silence when words fall short. The process is deeply meditative—each layered stroke a physical prayer, each wash of ink or brush of pigment a reflection of something unspoken but urgently felt. I work in diptychs because the tension between two panels allows space for contradiction, balance, and echo. The fragility of egg tempera and the fluid unpredictability of Sumi-e demand surrender; they force me to slow down, to be present, to process emotions that refuse to be named. In those layered surfaces, something true begins to surface—something quiet, but alive.
